Heidolph Tuttnauer 2340M Autoclave Sterilizer Analog Model with 3 Stainless Steel Trays, 19L Capacity, 9" Diameter Chamber, 120V Overview

The Heidolph Tuttnauer 2340M autoclave (model HEI-023210100) is a 19 L/5 gallon analog sterilizer with a 9 x 18” (diameter x depth) chamber, and a 120 V power source for use with standard outlets. The temperature settings range from 100 to 134 degrees C (212 to 273 F), with sterilization times up to 60 minutes for simplified operation. The autoclave comes with three stainless steel trays for maximizing space in the chamber by holding instruments, liquids, laboratory equipment and other items to be sterilized.

The autoclave has a combination pressure and temperature gauge, and an automatic low water shut off to prevent damage to the heater elements if there is insufficient water for sterilization. A heat-insulated, double-locking door helps protect users from accidental burns and prevents the chamber from being opened during the sterilization cycle. The autoclave has a fast or slow exhaust selection, with the fast exhaust for drying solids, and the slow exhaust for preventing media and liquid boil-over. A closed-door drying cycle maintains sterility and removes extra moisture after sterilization. A continuous pressure purge removes air pockets and ensures even sterilization, and a 3L reservoir with the drain located on top simplifies cleaning. The autoclave also has an automatic shut-off for conserving energy.

The chamber capacity is 19 L/5 gallons and its dimensions are 22.9 x 45.7 cm (9 x 18 inches) (diameter x depth); tray dimensions are 17 x 41.5 x 2 cm (6.7 x 16.3 x 0.8 inches); exterior dimensions are 38.1 x 50.8 x 50.8 cm (15 x 20 x 20 inches) (H x W x D ), and it weighs 36 kg (79 lb). (H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) Electrical: 120 V, 1,400W, and the current is 12A.

Autoclaves are ovens that sterilize laboratory instruments and can kill bacteria, viruses or both. They are often used in laboratories to sterilize lab equipment, media and liquids, and can be designed to meet different health, safety, and environmental standards.

Heidolph USA, a subsidiary of Heidolph GmbH (founded in 1938), manufactures laboratory products such as evaporators, pumps, autoclaves, shakers, stirrers, ductless hoods and workstations. The company is headquartered in Chicago, IL.
